Of course, there are many ways to do this and some of these include dietary means, cardiovascular exercise, prayer and meditation and other ways as well.</p><p>If you are specifically looking at dietary ways to become healthier then you really should consider the health benefits of cilantro. The benefits of eating fresh cilantro are many. Let's take a closer look at this wonderful food.</p><p>So, why is cilantro so healthy? Well, Cilantro comes from the leaves of the coriander plant. Some people refer to this herb as "Chinese Parsley." Whatever name it goes by the fact is out and that is that there are many health benefits to eating fresh cilantro. Why is it so important to eat it fresh? Actually, this is true for almost any fruit and certainly all herbs. When you buy fresh you do not have to worry about preservatives or anything else. In fact, it is recommended that not only do you buy it fresh but if possible organic.</p><p>The number one health benefit of Cilantro has to do with its rich antioxidant properties. Like many of your dark greens, this herb is rich in antioxidants and helps to <a href="https://ayurveda-guru.blogspot.com/2013/05/10-tips-on-how-to-lower-cholesterol.html" target="_blank">lower cholesterol</a>, probably helps reduce the incidence of cancer, and has many other health benefits as well.</p><p>If you are looking at some ways to consume enough of this herb on a daily basis then you may want to follow my approach. I must warn you that you really should like salsa and/or guacamole. Personally, I love eating avocados and this probably comes out of my time having lived in Southern California for many years. The way I make sure I get enough cilantro on a regular basis is to dice it up and include it along with garlic and tomatoes in order to make a great-tasting and very healthy guacamole dish.</p><p>However you decide to eat it just make sure that you consume this herb as there are many great health advantages of cilantro.</p><p><br /></p><p>By Isabella Thera </p>Dr.Savitha Surihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14400925485743773673noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6551007646867792007.post-47119405925665601242022-08-24T23:41:00.001-07:002022-08-25T23:29:16.783-07:00Thalipit Recipe<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMyGlZ4Jk53C35PfC0WSDnn7DpbjGK79rKFJK2ydoi-aGeOxHRxgiDrnV6zMV5R0NqVVqmapOvCvGv_pI_qWgQ5Y0HUv06XwTgDjQvfnMub9_8487AXaxEKvQAIrCNJ180hIEIzn3tVDOAZ98Hxv1JeDokFRkvhlTz01Ep-BGoy6E5aXj8F2AWt42wag/s502/thalipit.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="502" data-original-width="500" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjMyGlZ4Jk53C35PfC0WSDnn7DpbjGK79rKFJK2ydoi-aGeOxHRxgiDrnV6zMV5R0NqVVqmapOvCvGv_pI_qWgQ5Y0HUv06XwTgDjQvfnMub9_8487AXaxEKvQAIrCNJ180hIEIzn3tVDOAZ98Hxv1JeDokFRkvhlTz01Ep-BGoy6E5aXj8F2AWt42wag/s320/thalipit.JPG" width="319" /></a></div><p><br /></p>This thalipit recipe I learned from my mother-in-law. Ash Gourd Halwa ( Boodukumbalakai Damroot)</h2>
<div>
This recipe is very popular in karnataka. Usually this is prepared during functions and very easy to prepare. Here is a quick look at recipe.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3 style="text-align: left;">
Ingredients for Ash Gourd Halwa ( Boodukumbalakai Damroot)</h3>
<div>
Ash gourd - cleaned and grated - 6 cups</div>
<div>
Sugar - 2 1/2 cups (according to sweetness required</div>
<div>
Saffron strands or Kesari - 1 tea spoon</div>
<div>
<a href="https://aahara-arogya.blogspot.com/2012/05/properties-of-ghee-clarified-butter-as.html">Ghee (clarified butter)</a> - 2 cups</div>
<div>
Powdered cardamom - yelakki - 2 tea spoon</div>
<div>
Broken Cashew - 1 cup</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Preparation of Ash Gourd Halwa ( Boodukumbalakai Damroot) - Method</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Take out the skin of ash gourd (picture given below). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpgMPhfY65rtM1hUG6rag2qigpEIzJXHG5UksilT0VE_cDrdMy4XJS586YnruydstDAHBNMS7rIkosY28fMlAsNPU6aeduUulYGWarGBOF_u10sMpLgS9FOMTLJSPEavf0Loj5vf-dgjTJ/s1600/1585131177338614-0.png" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpgMPhfY65rtM1hUG6rag2qigpEIzJXHG5UksilT0VE_cDrdMy4XJS586YnruydstDAHBNMS7rIkosY28fMlAsNPU6aeduUulYGWarGBOF_u10sMpLgS9FOMTLJSPEavf0Loj5vf-dgjTJ/s1600/1585131177338614-0.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Grate it. Don't squeeze its water. Transfer grated ash gourd to a woke (kadahi or Bandle) . Cook this in medium flame , till its water evaporates. It takes around 20 - 30 minutes for this. Keep stirring in between. You need not stand in front of it. You can do other jobs. But in between don't forget to stir this. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As water evaporates the volume of grated gourd reduces. When 95% of water is evaporated add sugar and saffron strands. Mix them well. This mixture starts thickening as it boils and looses water. It starts leaving the sides of woke. At this stage add ghee or clarified butter. Mix well again. As ghee starts separating from halwa , turn off flame.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Take a tampering ladle. Add a table spoon of ghee and roast cashews in it. Pour this on damroot. Add cardamom powder. Give a good mix . Serve when it is hot. Watch your sweet toothed hubby's face. You can see a glow radiating from his face and Pot Belly ;) . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
NOTE: Few add grated khova to this. This is optional. I prepare both types. Being a hardcore Mysorean I always use Nandini Khova which is fresh and tasty. (For this measurement you can add 1 cup khova while adding sugar.)</div>

This is my favourite <a href="https://aahara-arogya.blogspot.com/search/label/weight%20loss%20recipe#.Xm13upMzZeM">weight loss</a> food, which brims with protein, vitamins and anti-oxidants. But very very low in calories. Since it has plenty of protein and fibers, it fills stomach and stays for a very long time. I usually eat this tangy dish before starting my meal. This helps me to cut carb portion. Here is the recipe. Just try it.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Ingredients</b></div>
<div>
Soaked Chana dal 1 cup - (wash 1/2 cup chana dal. Soak it for 3 hours. Wash it again and drain the water. )</div>
<div>
Fresh grated <a href="https://aahara-arogya.blogspot.com/2012/04/count-on-coconut-cocos-nucifera.html">coconut</a> 1/4 cup</div>
<div>
Finely chopped coriander 2 tea spoon</div>
<div>
Lemon juice 1 tea spoon</div>
<div>
Asafetida 1 pinch</div>
<div>
Finely chopped green chilly 1 (optional) or grounded black pepper</div>
<div>
Salt to taste.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Take a bowl and mix all the ingredients well. Eat a cup of this before breakfast, lunch and dinner. </div>

Gur or jaggery is prepared from sugar cane juice. This is used as sweetening agent in many Indian traditional dishes. Jaggery contains plenty of nutrients as it is not completely refined like sugar. Texts of ayurveda eulogize this delicious substance as “Guda”. <br /><br /><b>Medicinal properties and health benefits of Gur or jaggery:</b><br /><br />• Well prepared jaggery is store house of nutrients. According to ayurveda acharyas It eases bowel movement (hence very beneficial for persons suffering from constipation) and acts as diuretic. <br />• Guda or jaggery kept for a long time is very good for health and acts as cardiac tonic. It increases kapha and helps to gain a healthy weight. Hence it is recommended for persons who need brimhana therapy or weight gain therapy.<br />• Gur is rich in several important vitamins and minerals like potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc, selenium, calcium and phosphorus and antioxidants.<br />• It supplies instant energy. Juices prepared using this as sweetening agent are healthy and reviving.<br />• The iron content in this sweetener helps to boost blood hemoglobin level. Hence its use in pregnancy can be beneficial.<br />• The potassium in gur helps to control blood pressure.<br />• This sweetener can be used as a healthy substitute for sugar.<br />. It helps in digestion and nullifies free radicals.<br />

Many of us are not aware
that cooking destroys nutrients in food. Really does cooking destroy nutrients
in food? Yes cooking destroys nutrients trapped in food. Here are ten tips to
prevent loss of nutrients from food while cooking. <a href="http://aahara-arogya.blogspot.in/2013/06/more-and-more-americans-are-avoiding.html">These are tips for healthy cooking</a></div>
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li>Do not wash rice multiple times. This process
leads to loss of nutrients present on surface of rice grains. Wash rice only
once with good amount of water to remove dirt and dust present on surface.
Never rub rice grains vigorously. This damages the surface of grains and paves
ways to loss of nutrients.<span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"> </span></span></span>Lemon is store house of Vitamin C. Vitamin C can
easily get destroyed due to heat. Hence always squeeze lemon on cooked dishes
after turning off the heat. Never heat the dish after lemon is squeezed.Never wash chopped or diced or cut vegetables.
This process removes water soluble vitamins present on cut surface. Always wash
vegetables first and then take them to chopping board. Avoid fine chopping as
far as you can. Larger the vegetables pieces smaller is the nutrient loss</li>
</ul>
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li>Avoid using cooking soda or baking soda as much
as possible in recipes. Cooking soda destroys Vitamin Thiamine.</li>
<li>Never cook at high temperature for a long time. High
temperature for a longer duration is always detrimental to nutrients. High temperatures
always wipe out Vitamin B-Complex</li>
<li>Cook colored vegetables like carrot, beetroot,
pumpkin etc at low temperature for a short time. This prevents destruction of
Beeta carotene and anti oxidants present in these vegetables. Beeta carotenes <span style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">protect your cells from the damaging effects of free radicals ,provide a source of vitamin A ,they enhance the functioning of your
immune system and help your reproductive system function properly</span><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;"></span></span></li>
<li><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"></span></span></span>Frequently include recipes which need
fermentation. Fermentation makes food easily digestible. It increases bio
availability of nutrients and enhances nutrient content of food. Many fermented
foods contain nutrients which prevent cancer.<span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;"></span></span></li>
<li><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;"><span style="font: 7.0pt "Times New Roman";"></span></span></span>Use sprouts as much as you can. Germination
destroys anti nutritional factors and enhances nutrients. Sprouted cereals and
pulses are mostly used in many recipes. The process of sprouting breaks complex
nutrients to their simpler forms. The nutrients in cereals or pulses multiply
during the process of germination.</li>
<li>Percentage of loss of nutrients in pressure
cooking and microwave cooking are same.</li>
<li>Avoid
processed food as much as you can. These foods might have lost many nutrients
while getting processed. Use whole wheat products instead of refined ones.</li>

More and more, Americans are avoiding the kitchen and relying on the convenient yet fattening fare offered at fast food restaurants and other national chains. While most people are aware that cooking at home is an effective way to save money, many of us ignore the fact that preparing our own meals can be beneficial to our health, as well. When taking steps to prepare meals in the healthiest possible way, you can not only develop a healthy relationship with food, but also probably have a little fun in the process. Most importantly for patients of weight-loss surgery, learning to prepare healthy meals is one of the biggest steps towards meeting long-term weight loss goals and maintaining healthy eating habits. The following tips represent just a sample of the many ways you can make the meals you prepare as healthy as possible. <br />
<br />
<b>Remove the Skin and Fat </b><br />
<br />
Whenever you prepare chicken or any other type of meat, you should remove the skin and fat before cooking. Not only will you leave yourself the best-tasting portions, you will be able to avoid plenty of unwanted calories and unhealthy fat. <br />
<br />
<b>Cut the Oil in Half </b><br />
<br />
If you prepare your meals from cookbooks or family recipes, add only half the amount of oil listed - or less - to all of your dishes. Though many cooking oils - such as olive, safflower, <a href="http://aahara-arogya.blogspot.in/2012/07/ayurveda-medicinal-properties-of-sesame.html">sesame </a>and canola - contain unsaturated fats that can help lower cholesterol levels, these additives can also pack plenty of calories that can jeopardize your weight loss goals. If you consume these oils in moderation, you will be able to obtain the healthy benefits, retain the taste of your meals and stick to your <a href="http://aahara-arogya.blogspot.in/search/label/weight%20loss%20recipe">weight loss </a>goals. <br />
<br />

<td><img alt="" border="0" src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=ayurvedar-20&l=as2&o=1&a=0804843112" height="1" style="border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;" width="1" /></td>

</tr>
</tbody></table>
<b>Coat Your Pans with Cooking Spray or Chicken Broth </b><br />
<br />
One of the easiest ways to avoid excess consumption of such cooking oils is to use cooking sprays and chicken broth instead. When sautéing meat or vegetables on the stovetop, coat your pans with a fat-free cooking spray or healthy chicken broth instead of traditional oils. Once you perfect the simple art of healthy sautéing, you will be able to enjoy meals that are not only healthier, but more delicious.<br />
<br />
<b>Pour in Skim Milk Instead of Cream </b><br />
<br />
Much like the suggestion to substitute cooking sprays for oils, using skim milk - especially the evaporated variety for weight loss-surgery patients - instead of whole cream can help you trim fat and calories from your meals. People may also be surprised to hear that <a href="http://aahara-arogya.blogspot.in/2012/07/butter-milk-healthy-drink-described-in.html">buttermilk</a> is also naturally low in fat and is available in low fat and non-fat versions in some markets. When shopping for dairy products, you should also stock up on low-fat yogurt to use in lieu of sour cream or mayonnaise and low-fat cheese instead of the standard variety. Thick, creamy fat free or low fat Greek Yogurt serves as a delicious replacement as well. <br />
<br />
<b>Use Applesauce in Your Baked Goods</b><br />
<br />
For all of your baked goods recipes, substitute applesauce for any type of cooking oil. However, you should definitely try to limit your consumption of baked goods, especially pastries that incorporate large amounts of sugar. <br />
<br />
<b>Cook with Fresh Spices </b><br />
<br />
Rather than dousing your meals with unhealthy amounts of salt, you should also try to learn the art of cooking with fresh spices. Not only will spices add an incredible amount of flavor to your meals, you can season your food without worrying about the potentially dangerous effects of salt. However, be careful of packaged seasoning mixes as many contain excessive amounts of salt, destroying the benefit of using different spices. <br />
<br />
<b>Find Healthy Ways to Prepare Your Meals </b><br />
<br />
Even if you follow all of the previous tips, using the wrong cooking methods can ruin the healthy benefits of your meals. As a result, you should avoid such cooking methods as frying. Instead, try steaming your vegetables and cooking your meats on a grill or in the oven. Your microwave also represents a healthy solution, as most foods can be cooked thoroughly without the use of oils or fatty cooking additives. <br />
<br />
As you perfect the methods of healthy cooking, you should also try to enjoy the entire process of cooking - from the simple activities to the aromas. You may even want to purchase new pots, pans, utensils or cooking appliances to help you make the most of your healthy meals. Eating should be a relaxing experience and allowing yourself to enjoy cooking will help you develop a healthy lifelong relationship with food. Many people find success by making it a family activity to teach their children how to shop, cook and eat healthy.<br />

Cut the mango into two halves and remove its seed . Grate
this mango with a grater. (use large hole side). Heat a wok or kadahi on stove.
Pour sesame oil to it. When oil is heated add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds and
asafetida. When mustard seeds splutter add grated mango salt and chilly powder.
Allow this to soften and turn the mango pulp now and then. When mango pulp
becomes soft, turn off the heat and allow the chutney to cool. Store this in an
airtight container and refrigerate it. It has a shelf life of 15 days when
properly cooked and stored in refrigerator.<br />
